Hi I’m Franny, and was a nurse for 30 years before I had an epiphany and changed my career to become a Pilates teacher in 2015.
I first experienced Pilates on the advice of a physio friend, after years of complaining to her about my work related back pain. When I reflect back on myself then, I can say with confidence that my posture was rubbish and I didn’t move with any sense of body awareness. I was lucky to find a fantastic Pilates teacher who guided me through better movement, literally transforming my life.
My core strength and posture improved quickly and within weeks I felt ‘normal’ again. It was amazing to learn how the position of my bones and the use of my breath could help me find my core and use it to move better. Through regular practice my shape changed and I became more aligned. I’m also stronger, more flexible and above all, more confident – win win!
My experience of these benefits motivated me to learn how to help others like me. I was quite sure that I didn’t want to teach an exercise class, my philosophy is to help people help themselves by educating and empowering them so they can apply the skills and understanding learnt AND felt in class, to move better outside of it
I researched the different approaches available and found the Contemporary Pilates approach which made complete sense to me. It retains all the Classical exercises as the baseline and something to aim for, but breaks down the more technical and difficult exercises, demystifying them, giving us little stepping stones to take us closer to the original movement, or as exercises in their own right.
As a nurse I know that knowledge of anatomy and movement advances all the time through evidence based medicine, research and imaging, and as such fully believe that Joe would have led the way with adaptations to his phenomenal Pilates Method, had he been practicing today.
So with all this in mind, my ultimate aim is to help you understand and feel what good movement is, so that in your day to day life you’re equipped with the awareness, knowledge and skills to be able to move well, limit your risk of injury and above all feel brilliant.

This list continues to grow as I experience more and more training to develop my skills and knowledge base, so I can support you to the best of my ability. I also adhere to a strict code of professional practice, am a member of the Body Control Pilates Association (BCPA) and have Public Liability insurance.
